About BSAP
BSAP an armed wing of the State Police was earlier known as Bihar Military Police and was established in 1942 with the name of Railway Protection Police headquartered at Dinapur contemporary “Danapur” several units of this organization such as Dehri Military Police (DMP) was functioning in Dehri. Similarly other units and sub-units came in existence. Currently on 24th March 2021 this Police force is renamed as Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) with some special duty and authority.
Now Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) is an important division of the Bihar Police. It has approximately twenty thousand employees deployed at various locations geographically spread across the state of Bihar. It includes:
• BSAP Headquarters at Patel Bhawan, Patna (headed by DG or ADG rank officer)
• IG, BSAP office at Head Quarters
• Two DIT (Divisional) offices – North Division at Muzaffarpur and Central Division office at Patna
• 19 Battalions headquartered and deployed in different districts
